Classrooms
Curriculum forward design for a Fluid Mode of Learning!
Creating a classroom for 2022 and beyond is about designing a space that fits to the curriculum. The shift from a linear curriculum to a more collaborative learning model is happening globally, and is expected to become the norm in education for the next generation of students.
Instead of just following a traditional stand and deliver lesson plan, Collaborative Learning encourages students to develop their own ideas and solutions to real-world problems through trial and error. Solutions can be presented as anything from a presentation, report, poster, or video.

Considerations for creating an active learning environment.
From a static physical location to a dynamic learning environment, the classroom has changed. The combination of a greater understanding of how children learn and the capacity to apply that information through more effective teaching techniques enabled fuelled this progress evolution naturally, as teaching techniques evolved, so did the resources available to teachers, including classroom furniture.
interactive zone
Think group projects, case studies and role playing where the teacher is the facilitator, and not a one-way information provider. An active learning classroom fosters collaborative learning to create a deeper understanding as students are more engaged in the learning process. Great for developing critical thinking skills, this zone is characterised by informal settings that attract students to the group with circular, face to face formats with flexible furniture providing mobility for the sharing of ideas.
Flexibility + focus
A convenient deviation from linear rows of classroom tables, active learning classrooms still ensure the audience is in full view of the presenter, whilst offering differing student desks and seating formats to accommodate individual needs, with clean lines of sight to allow teachers to provide additional aid to those that require it. Questions and feedback are encouraged whilst content is shared.
tools + resources
In an active learning classroom, more tools are needed by the teacher to support group and project learning. Flexible, mobile storage that allows project materials and resources to be organised and kept for each group, delivered to the students as needed, and then put away when finished is essential.
Power to the people
In the modern learning environment students need to be able to connect to data and presentation devices.Whether they're using tablets or laptops, it's critical for classrooms to offer both power and WiFi for students' electronic devices.
